Frank, thanks for the reminder. I feel most comfortable when I'm wearing my Polyanna suit - it's the one that fits me best, and I think it's actually the one that's closest to reality. The real heroes are the so-called "ordinary" people you meet every day, not the people who seek the headlines. I can think of lots of terrific heroes. Many of them hang out around here at Mudcat. There are some truly extraordinary people right here.
Paula Jones and the O.J. Simpson matter were fodder for the tabloids, and have little to do with reality. The feminists and the black leaders were better off not getting involved in those soap operas.
Although I preferred John McCutcheon when he did mostly traditional stuff, I admit he's a darn good songwriter. On his latest album, Storied Ground, he's got a great song called Vultures (click) that is apropos to this discussion.
