Hey Peter, thanks for the report! I called Rick yesterday and wished him the best, but also told him he wouldn't need "luck"....he really is a tremendous musician, fine picker with a great voice. I got to here one he was working on over the phone and that sounded just great. For those of you who have not heard or PURCHASED Rick's new album "This One's the Dreamer," you really need too. Not because you know Rick, or he's a 'Catter....no, you need to get it for the music. I don't find many albums anymore that are so well "rounded" as this one. If you don't know Rick and his tastes, likes, and influences, you will after listening to this CD. He "pays homage" so to speak, to the variety of musical styles that have influenced over the years and his selection of material couldn't be better. And if you don't find yourself "struttin" through the kitchen to "Gin Mill Synchopaters" or harmonizing to "Fa Sol La" then you can at least get a feeling for Rick through his own "City Boy's Dream." His rendition of "In My Life" is simply top notch...a Lennon/McCartney that everyone knows, but somehow its so much more powerful and meaningful from Rick.
Yeah, I know the guy's a friend of mine, but that ain't got squat to do with it. Buy this sucker and listen! Folk to Folk-Like at the best. Yeah, I know I ain't a critic either....but judge for yourself folks......as I'm sure you will.(:<))
