Many, many years ago a work mate who hailed from the 'umber area came back from a visit home bearing strange small black chips of an unidentifiable substance in a paper bag bearing a name which I remember as Krause (?). He told us that they were much favoured by trawlermen to keep out the cold. They were revolting (the sweets, not the trawlermen). He then produced something which he claimed was even more effective, the same concoction but in liquid form. Does this stuff still exist or has it gone down the plug with the fishing industry?
