Fare thee well my cordouroy trousers,
Tweed and Denim, fare thee well.
I am going to sing at Gainsborough Folk Club,
In which trousers I cannot tell.

So fare thee well my worsted wool,
Before too long I'll have you on again.
Now shall I wear some that are fancy,
Or make do with something plain?

I am surely going to the Folk Club,
And not into the town.
If they're tight it will affect my singing,
If they're loose then they might fall down.

So fare thee well my tight trousers,
And fare thee well too loose.
I think I'll have to stay at home tonight,
I've no trousers of any use.
