When an LP got "stuck", you could move the needle a fraction of a space futher and it would go on playing.
WHY, then, if we have all this technology now, when a DVD shows itself to be a bit smudged or dirty by breaking up the picture---why can't we push a button to get easily past the glitch??
When my DVD player hits a bad place it just quits.
When I first heard of CD and DVDs, I was told the miraculous things would pass over anything it encountered that wasn't kosher---and just play what was.
This might be a silly question---but to me it smacks of yet another example of obsolescence being built into the product.
