Pete Morton's "Thanksgiving" is a beautiful meditation on the value of life as someone passes away. I will never write anything near as good. Most of us can improve as craftsmen. However, there are songs like that to remind us of the difference between a reasonable craftsman and a true artist. There is definitely something there which the rest of us can't do.
