A teacher I worked with spent a teaching year in Haiti. The schools had no paper, no blackboards, no trained teachers (the average education of the 'teachers' was grade 10 or thereabouts), and there were approximately 70 kids to a class. Classes were held outside because that many kids couldn't fit in one room. They had very few books, two computers that they had received years before and lots of the kids were very hungry. I bitch when a dry erase marker doesn't work. Thanks for making me take another look at that.
