Check out Sir Peter Ustinov's autobio of a dozen years or so back ('Dear Me')about naming his dog 'Major'. His father kept chasing down the dog yelling 'Major' and meeting so many retired English officers that Peter once came home to a reception for a number of monocled gentlemen of a certain age and set, by way of his father's apology for 'yelling' at 'em.

Personally, I always thought it would be cool to name a dog 'Rabies'.
