Tried that once here.

Phone book tells you "enter ***" to get the phone number of the last person calling."

Plugged in "***" and was informed that "the number has been recorded, we cannot give you the number without a court order. If you feel you are being harassed, please call your local police departement and request an investigation.

Called the police to ask about this, they informed me that they will only investigate if I have received at least 3 calls within 24 hours, or 20 call within one week, from the same number.

How the $%^!@ do I know if they're all from the same number if they won't tell me what the number is?


A minor annoyance:

I just attempted to look up some identification on a public institution, found their web site quite easily, and even a .pdf map giving me the street names in their vicinity; but a thorough search of their website failed to reveal

        WHAT %$^*! CITY they are in.

(OK, so there IS ONLY ONE city in the UK …. How was I supposed to know? But why do they call it the "Birmingham" if it's in Hull?)
