My (ex) mother-in-law always answered the phone, "How DOoo!" ... which I kinda liked. (Liked it more than the m-i-l). If I'm phoning someone else, I tend to say, "Hi, how's tricks?"

For the most part, I'm not sure I notice, but I always assume that strange voices asking after my general welfare are up to no good so I always respond in Welsh. That tends to shorten the call substantially ...
