I'm skipping the last 2/3 of this thread because I have better things to do with my time. Just want to say that I think Kwanzaa is a great holiday. If everybody practised the 7 principles that Kwanzaa espouses, we'd all be a lot saner, friendlier, and better off.
I lead a Kwanzaa-related service at my church every year on the Sunday after Christmas. We light the candle appropriate to that day and I talk about the principle ("unity" this year), then we drum and sing and have a good time. The world needs more holidays!
