I can't remember from the film, but is it realy the Mk VII that Indy carries (One mai pouch to contain the respirator, one smaller on the other side to take the decontamination goggles and cleaning kit etc.) or was it one of the earlier Great War/interwar single pouch Small Box Respirator bags?
