Barry - Who could have stopped the massive strikes? Remember Kent State and the people others who died for civil rights? I don't think we can overlook the fact that many have been deterred by riot squads, etc. I know that when I was young, it didn't stop me but once I had children, I had to think twice.

The young people today are more concerned about attaining an education and/or employment than they are with marching and protesting. I do believe there are enough people (maybe 50% or more) who can protest in ways that do not jeopardize the security of their families. Looking at how the animal rights people have done it may be a good start.
