Kingston upon Hull was so named in the 12th century by King Edward I. It is, of course, the King's town upon the River Hull. I presume that Schenectady was named by somebody with a bad attack of hay fever.

Schenectady may be in the State of New York, but Kingston upon Hull is in the county of Yorkshire. I don't have to say any more than that,

And we no longer have a mayor here in Hull. We have a Lord Mayor. So there!
