I am using a Motorola A768i which can send and recieve e-mail and is a tri-band phone which means I can use it almost anywhere in the world including the US, Japan and Korea which for reasons unto themselves do not use GSM.

It is very intuiive in its operation and I have only had ro revert to the manual when I first got it.
