NZ is getting pretty strict with entry requirements. I think first, you need to have a job/skill that we don't have enough of here!
There have been a lot of taxi drivers who have medical qualifications but no-one in the health business will employ them. And a lot of foreign sailors (on Russian sweat ships) have been jumping ship and finding employment in our local orchards or vineyards - but when the authorities catch up with them, they're tossed out.
The average kiwi fella is getting a bit touchy about all the "refugees" arriving, some with no english at all, and our welfare system is having to look after them.
So if you are well educated, have work skills that we can use and if you can find yourself a job (my daughter has been having problems with that one), then come on over. I'll be pleased to see you.
But if not, then try OZ! (I don't think you have to be a criminal to get in any more!)
