What TV demands is entertainers, and not many of our best loved performers have that charisma that travels from the studio into your living room,I know it's sad but it's also true. I'm a bit out of date with most of the current crop of folk whiz-kids but I bet none of them have the pizazz of someone like Johnny Silvo, or Richard Digance, and how often do you see them on the box? I've heard many great current singers and instrumentalists, but would they turn out to have the personalities of Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham if we put them on the box. Think about it folks TVs about entertainment, and for too many that means Big Brother and I'm a Celebrity Get me Out of Here. Sad innit!!
