OK, that seems to work pretty well. the main thing to remember is that the HTML commands have to be enclosed in those arrow brackets that are the uppercase compatriots of your comma and period.. commands are ended by repeating the command with a slash in front of the command (not a backslash).
Some commands:
Bold: "b" - cancelled by "/b"
Italic: "i" and "/i"
Change font size by "font size=7" (or whatever) and "/font"

Indent with "blockquote" and "/blockquote"

I think I have the clickable references figured out, but I can't recall them so I right-click the page and "view source," and then copy how the Omniscient Max did it. Now, if I remembered how to turn all the effects off, I'm outa here.
