Snopes needs to update that entry. New studies on all deaths throughout the year which is much more comprehensive than "Olmstead County Minnesota) were published this year, which included a study of 55 million death certificates.
The study concluded the deadliest day of the year was Christmas day, when the death rate spikes across the US. But from all causes, not just suicide.
So I guess there is something to that "urban myth" after all, eh?
