Is it a fair assumption that most folkies are liberals? All the ones I have ever known personally have been.

Brings to mind a Judy Collins quote from the 60s; "There's never been a really good Republican folksinger." Hyperbole, I expect, but would it be fun and instructive to explore the relationships between genres and political stances?
