I used to feel that way until Barky took up the horn. Now I am over it.

BTW, the transformation of ancient sites and gods into converted forms was a political art mastered by the Spanish establishing centers throughout MExico and Central America. They would raze a pyramid temple, build a Catholic cathedral on top (using the Indians as slaves) and name it as a Christian saint with a local handle attached. One example, where we lived for a year, is the village of Nuestro Senora Maria de Tequipexpan, where the cathedral is built on top of the old temple of Tequipexpan, outside Guadalajara in Jalisco state. It was a major center of commerce in pre-Columbian times, and thus that power in the minds of the residents for miles all around was suborned and put to use by the Spanish.
