Of course there are good reasons to have a cell phone.

Nonetheless, I would like to criticize something I am seeing more and more as a person working in retail. And that is parents, usually mothers, who are relying on a cell phone to keep tabs on children who were obviously too young to be left home alone. If something really goes wrong, the cell phone is no substitute for a caring adult.
