I've been researching a gospel group founded in the 1930s called "The Golden Gate Quartet." I've pretty much mined the internet, but am wondering if any 'catters have personal experiences/info about them. My father was in the Navy in WW II with one of the founders, Willie Johnson. (This is NOT Blind Willie Johnson, by the way.) He lost track of Johnson after the war and spent much time looking for him. Johnson played electric guitar for Howlin' Wolf in the early 1950s and he died in 1995. Does anyone know about his career after he left Howlin' Wolf?   Is it true that the Golden Gate Quartet still exists? Has anyone heard them or know about them? Thanks for your help.
