Slept till 1 a.m.? What kind of holiday is that, Rita?   :)

Since it was New Year's Eve on a Friday night and the kids spend weekends (reguarly) and NYE (annually) with their father, you would think they'd have been at his house. But since an old friend is in town for a couple of days, and since their dad has taken days off until they go back to school (Wednesday) so they can spend more time with him later, the kids mixed it all up. They usurped his party favors and brought them over here. When I realized what they'd done we called and had him come spend the evening with us over here. We watched I, Robot (he brought), ate lots of popcorn, and popped some crackers at midnight. He went home, we went to bed pretty soon after and the kids and the friend slept until all hours (like, 11am). I was up earlier, getting ready for a big dinner for that friend and others this evening.

So, this afternoon I had five teenagers in the house, my friend, my ex husband, her grandchildren and her ex-son-in-law. It went very well, albeit very noisy. I really do subscribe to the policy that it's better to divorce them when you know it isn't going to work any more but while you can still get along. It makes the rest of your life a helluva lot easier.
