There is a wonderful CD that features them (Golden Gate Quartet) with Josh White put out by Bridge Recordings in commemoration of the 75th anniv. of the 13th ammendment to the Constitution (US). It features their work, narration by Alan Lomax and more, and various sections divided into Blues, Work Songs, and Spirituals.

The CD also has in its liner book a nice sketch of the attendees and honored guests at the FDR innauguration---Josh White, the Quartet including Johnson.

Truly a work worth having.

On an aside here----the innauguration reminded me of how FDR cancelled--during the war---all the pomp and pageantry saying it was inappropriate and a waste of our resources. Think about that whilst our final term possesor of the Oval Office spends millions to honor himself and our troops are short of needed supplies in a war that only Dubya volunteered their efforts for.

Damn---one sentence to cover it all. Do I hear offers from newspapers yet?
