Old engineering adage : Given enough time and money, we can do anything. Old political adage : Do everything at half the price in half the time.

Politicians don't care about doing a proper job. They only care about getting elected. The same is true of "upper management" in public service... they just want to hang on until retirement so they don't rock the boat when the politicians run amok with their silly ideas.

I'm not saying there are no stunned engineers... I know some... they work for the City.
