I'm with the 'small is beautiful' brigade on this one (not just because I'm 5'4 and a bit in my stockinged feet).

I like sitting in pubs and singing & playing; playing and/or dancing at uncrowded ceilidhs; and being able to get to the bar when my pint's empty.

I do not like queueing for an hour to get into events, standing room only in pubs or shoulder-to-shoulder dancing in ceilidhs to electically amplified music.

I stopped going to Sidmouth in about 1986 because it was getting too big and crowded. Maybe a small 'fringe only' festival is the thing.
