There's a popular Irish Song called The Black Velvet Band. There's an American song (similar theme, different tune and lyrics) called Blue Velvet Band. Can any of you folklorists provide ant information about early publication dates for each? I have a 1920's publication of Blue Velvet Band; I can't find any published version of Black Velvet Band prior to 1960 or so.
