Plenty of English songs with bawdy double meanings but not so many with political "signifying" that I'm aware of, which I think Fay is primarily seeking. (Unlike the situation with Irish songs). I'm sure there must be some.

(I can't see the parody elements in Cushie Butterfield myself, but that's a matter to discuss elsewhere, if it needed discussing.)
