My husband had a vasectomy after we had two children, and he was in his mid 30s at the time. The obstetrician/gynaecologist who delivered (he didn't really, he was a bit late) our second son said that although he could do a tubal ligation on me it was much quicker, easier and safer if my husband chose to have the procedure instead. So we did, it was early 1981 from memory. It never caused any problems with our sex life as far as I could tell!
