Subject: RE: BS: MG --Epidemiology and Prevalence
MG....a once popular though typically unreliable British sports car. MG stood for Morris' Garage and they were from the same family that brought you a line of "interesting" sedans as well. The MG encapsulated all that was fine and grand as well as all that was hideously demented in the British roadster.
With an electrical system by Joseph Lucas the leader of a Satanic cult, one was assured of complete failures every few months and some partial failure of some kind or another every day. The Smith instrumentation was attractive but of no value whatsoever in determing what the hell was the matter with the piece of shit. Smith instruments were not pushy, preferring to make suggestions on things like oil pressure and RPM instead of anything even close to reality. The convertible tops were pure Machiavellli and often leaked so badly that you couldn't tell if it was up or down.
Like most of it's brethren, the MG's were great fun and well suited for going from Point A to Point B...............provided of course that you had the time and money to repair it at Point B for it's return to A or bravely continuing on to C.
