Not to mention their contribution to the TVA.When the Feds closed down the program it was turned over to the states, property and all. Most used the property and existing camp buildings for something else of tore them down and sold the land. A few states, Ohio included restarted the programs and it is alive and well here as an alternative to the Job Corps. I've had a couple of my foster teens go to work for the CCC and have done quite well. They build parks, log cabins at the Historical Society, flood control, and even a local theatre renovation. Its a good deal for the kids who take advantage of it as a stepping stone.
