G'day again WYSIWYG,

Hmmm ... the grey cells are getting a little patchy! This is a description of my LP (now, I see, re-issued on CD):

Rounder Records 0078 (LP 1976 … now on CD)
Early Shaker Spirituals
Sung by
Sister R. Mildred Baker
With
Sisters Ethel Peacock, Elsie McCool, Della Hakell, Marie Burgess, Frances Carr, and other members of
The United Society of Shakers
Sabbathday Lake, Maine
With notes by Daniel W. Patterson

SIDE A
The rolling deep
I hunger and thirst
Come life, Shaker life
On Zion's holy ground
Little children
Down in the lowly vale
I'll spend and be spent
The gospel is advancing
'Tis the gift to be simple
Low, low in this pretty path
I will walk with my children
Bow down, O Zion
Low down in the valley
I love Mother, I love her way
Who will bow and bend like the willow
I looked and lo a lamb
On learning songs
Let me have Mother's gospel
With a new tongue
On Sister Paulina Springer

SIDE B
I never did believe
O holy Father
Yielding and simple
We must be meek
O brighter than the morning star
Farewell, earthly joy
Down to the deep and rolling river
My home, my sweet home in Zion
O the gospel of Mother
I bless the day
This gospel how precious
I feel the need of a deeper baptism
Gospel kindred, how I love you
Love is little
Love, more love
How lovely are the faithful souls
Where is the gem
Blessed, thrice blessed
O give me a little love
We will all go home with you

Rounder Records LP 0078 seems to be a 1976 re-edit of recordings from 1963, 1966, 1970 and 1976 … based on two earlier albums of "Early Shaker Spirituals.

Most web 'hits' list the recording as having 40 hymns … but I remember a couple of the 40 tracks being discussion - those track names startin "On ...".

Regards,

Bob
