Right. Let's censor the Mudcat! Those who write messages that do not agree with us (whoever us is) should be banned from posting. That's the progressive POV is it?

DougR

It is one thing to respond to his posts, it is another to start an attack thread. We don't allow this, so this one is closed ..... Mudelf

From Joe Offer:
SRS was in the process of posting a long message when this thread was being closed, so I agreed to let SRS get in one last word:
Joe,

I was preparing a post, only to find this thread closed when I sent it. I'd like to you consider possibly adding this as one last post before it is closed. This is what I was sending. Thanks! SRS

I recognize guest of the first post. This individual makes consistently valuable contributions to the site, mostly on the music end of things, but offers some caring support when called for, and sprightly BS on occasion. This individual is private, mature, and discreet, leading to my surmise that said member-acting-as-guest doesn't want to be pounced upon or stalked. That does seem to happen around here all too often.

Starting a thread with someone's moniker is rather like waving a red flag. From here it looks like an act of desperation--a "him or me" kind of cry in the virtual dark. It's too bad it has come to this, but I've seen some good friends, kind and intelligent and caring people trounced by Martin, and have had my share of entanglements with him.

Every so often Martin shows a glimmer of real insight and humanity, and at those times he is caring and charming. But then he does a bipolar flip-flop into biting the Mudcat hand that feeds him. This tends to make one real stand-offish when he decides to inhabit a thread (unless it is the Mudcat Tavern, where he was sumarily dumped into the lime-green jello pit by an irate giant squid).

I've seen a few characters go through quite remarkable transformations here at Mudcat. Perhaps that will happen with whoever the individual is who is behind the monkier "martin gibson." I can only counsel the original poster to be patient, but don't be too scarce. You're the kind of folkie that Mudcat is made for (and you introduced me to the place, for which I am eternally greatful!)
