The site you use, using the vote count for all the parties, gives the difference as 8.53%. I stand corrected. It is also true that Mr. Bush received 50.78% of the popular vote in 2004, which rounds upward to 51%, compared to the 50.05% Mr. Clinton received in 1996. 0.73% does represent a tremendous achievement, in the almost total absence of a third-party candidate, doesn't it?
