Anything times 9 should be easy. When I was struggling to learn the times tables my mother pointed out that with the 9s you could simply do it times 10 then subtract. So 9 x 6, if you can't remember the answer, do 10 x 6 (60) minus 6 = 54.

Then there's the little ditty I grew up with, and the chorus that goes

five times five is twenty-five
five times six is thirty
five times seven is thirty-five
five times eight is forty

Anyone else automatically click into the music when you think about that part of the times table?
