Yes, the book is badly written. Brown seems to know nothing about French law or police procedures; nothing of forensics or evidence collection. The book is more or less one long cliff hanger. It's full of logical and factual blunders. Badly written? By professional standards, yes. Living proof that reading is a vanishing art.
