Subject: RE: Who wrote and recorded 'Fan It'
allmusic lists 40 recordings of FAN IT and 2 more called FAN IT AND COOL IT.

Authorship is credited to Frankie "Half-Pint" Jaxon, who was a blues artist. He recorded it in 1928. Other blues musicians who recorded it (or a somewhat different version): Lightnin' Hopkins, Robert Lowery.

Jazz musicians who recorded it: Red Nichols and His Five Pennies (1931), Woody Herman and His Woodchoppers (1941), Ray Skjelbred.

Country or western swing artists who recorded it: Milton Brown and His Brownies (1936), Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys (1936), Bill Boyd and Cowboy Ramblers (1936), The Swift Jewel Cowboys (1939), and Hank the Cowhand.
