In that case, I'd guess at a scripting issue; or else the sites may be using layers/ absolute positioning, which rarely works properly in non-Microsoft browsers and often results in page elements being superimposed on each other, making it impossible to activate some links or "buttons".

That's just speculation, though. Give us the address of one or two of those sites for a more considered opinion.
