Thread Name: Lyr Req: Ballyhoe ('Do you remember the hawthorn')
Subject: ADD: Ballyhoe Lyrics [Do You Remember]
I hear a few things that differ from Mick's transcription. Anybody have a printed source? Approximate date of publication? A MIDI to send me?

Ballyhoe
(Eilish Boland)

You told me that you would come back again
Some day to Ballyhoe
But never a word since you went away
From me so long ago
The hours are long and lonely days
Are drifting into years
It's getting late, but still I wait
My eyes grown dim with tears

Chorus
Oh do you remember the hawthorn bush (?)
We gathered every spring?
And do you remember the reels we danced
Around the fairy ring?
And do you remember a promise made
Beneath the chestnut tree?
But best of all, my absent one
Do you still remember me?
But best of all, my absent one
Do you still remember me?

transcribed by ear from a recording by the Sean O'Neill Band
Some words are hard to understand, espectially if that's really a hawthorn bush they're gathering.

This is on a K-Tel CD called Irish Singalong Favourites. The song is abbreviated because it's part of a medley, so the second verse isn't included.
