A sort of peace has been made with Martin Gibson. In the light of minor miricles like that, it's not too much to hope that the elections will be a significant improvement over what was before, and may do some good.

And on a related note, the thread title was intented to be reminiscent of "The chimes of freedom clashing", wasn't it. Our hopes have changed so much in 40 years.....
