Thread Name: How to clean fiddle bow hairs?
Subject: RE: How to clean fiddle bow hairs?
Subject pretty well covered. I have washed countless bows with mild hand soap and luke warm water and they come completely clean. Use common sense and do not get stick and frog components wet and do not use excessive force on the hair so that you pull it loose of tear it. Sometimes takes a bit of washing to get the hair white in the area where your thumb and fingers make contact ahead of the frog. loosen hair and let dry until completely dry and then re-rosin. sometimes it is necessary to powder some rosin to fill the bow but usually conventional method of rubbing rosin on from a cake will suffice. Too much rosin is as bad as not enough.
