Thread Name: Ground breaking bands?
Subject: RE: Ground breaking bands?
Laughing Gravy are one of the the resident bands at the Hitchin Unicorn ceilidhs, who play about two months in three when they can't afford a "guest" band.

Countess Richard's point about song duos buried in dance bands also applies to Mary and myself as members of Fendragon, a band fairly new to the public "English Ceilidh" circuit but we've done a Unicorn, we've got a Haywards Heath Meltdown ceilidh coming up next week and we're planning to get into more public gigs and festivals in the next year or two. Sort of "Bismarcks plus recorder" sound.

Sadly nobody's nominated us for the BBC thing yet...

I wouldn't call all of the bands in that original list ground breaking. They're all good in different ways and they're all different - in fact I'm not sure what new ground there is to break, they are all so different. As long as it's possible to do the dances to the music, anything goes these days.
