yep...Hank Snow is one I have heard about, though I can't say from experience---

I met Marion Barry, ex crack smoking mayor of DC, in a crowd once, and HE sure was an example of someone who looked right through you when you didn't seem important.

In the folkie realm, 'most' have been pretty nice. I was a bit put off by Gerry Hallom from Australia the one time I saw him...he seemed pretty stand-offish and smug--but I can't say it was enough to be labeled obnoxious.
