I'm not sure if this would be considered "obnoxious", but it is something that sticks with me.

Many years ago I worked at a post-production facility in Manhattan. We had an intern working for us who happened to be the son of a very famous magazine publisher. His father wanted him to learn the television business because he had plans to add a television arm to his media empire.   Using his own inititive, he was practing threading a 1" video tape machine during his break. I would guess this machine cost several thousand dollars, and this was 20 years ago. The head of our engineering department walked by and saw this "kid" who was "playing" with one of his machines. He ripped into the kid and said that unless he is given permission, after being checked out, he is not to touch any equipment.   After the engineer walked away, this guy turned to me and said "I don't no why he is so upset, if I broke it I would buy him a new one".    He did not say this trying to show off or use his daddy's position, it came out as just a matter of fact comment that you or I would say if we broke someones pencil. It really pointed out the difference in our class structure.
