The real name of the late Junior Samples from Hee Haw fame was actually Alvin Hitler Jr. The family changed the last name in 1938 when Alvin was 12 years old, for obvious reasons. The new name "Samples" was chosen because Junior's father was a travelling carpet salesman. His carryall already had "SAMPLES" embossed on it, so that was the name he adopted.
