Steam is VERY hot water. You would need to check that they are not rusted too badly and the fittings are compatible. Also if the new host system is up to the job. Try and find a friendly local plumber or knowledgeable person to check them out. Playing with these things can be dangerous. The best advice I can give as steam radiators are not at all common this (UK) side of the pond.
