Amos, I think that line is from Wold War One. probably from Black Jack Pershing. It might be from WW2. The USA has liberated France on more than one occasion.

Eveybody has had a go at liberating France a few times. Some of us (Britian, Germany, others) were trying to liberate France from the French, but that's a minor point....
