Will endless scales and progression of 5ths help or should try to master a Bach invention.

Even chords in the left hand and melody with the right is a challenge at this point.

I know strings but never got the hang of keyboard. I learn most things on my own and wonder if there are any good people with suggestions for effective piano methods for dummies.
