Sonnet 19/01/04                   DCCCLXXIII

In time, I shall forget all I once knew,
And rest in silence underneath the earth.
I shall not be remembered for the few
Deeds I endeavor: One life has small worth.
In time, all I have gathered will be lost,
Scattered or thrown away. I cannot change
The flow of time, but hope, having paid cost,
That dreams might be enough to verse arrange.
In time, all I will leave will be desire,
Laid down upon the page, and telling of
My dreams of one who more than hopes inspire:
How can I not tell all of time my love?
In time, heart will not matter, but until
I am no more, I will night with dreams fill.
